Bluetti EB240 2400Wh/1000W Portable Power Station

Bluetti EB240 2400Wh/1000W Portable Power Station

The Bluetti EB240 2400Wh/1000W Portable Power Station gives you a whopping 2400Wh power capacity, and produces 1000W of continuous power, with a maximum surge of 1200W. Although the average camper will never finish that capacity in a day or two, it’s good to know that it is there for you when you need it in cases of emergency.

Highlights of the Bluetti EB240:

The unit comes with 2 x AC ports (110V or 240V), 1 x 12V 9A DC port, 4 x 5V3A USB-A ports and 1 x 45W USB C Power port. The USB-C Power Delivery is capable of charging larger USB devices like laptops.

It has an input port for charging via a wall outlet or by solar panels. The great thing about the EB240 is that an MC4 connector cable is supplied for solar charging. If you want to charge the unit running your car battery, you will require a pure sine wave inverter of 300W or higher. Unfortunately, the inverter is not supplied.

An MPPT Solar Charge Controller is pre-installed in the unit to give you optimized charging of up to 45% faster charging especially from solar panels.

The unit is big, measuring 19.4 x 6.5 x 14.4 inches, and weighs 48.5 lbs. In terms of portability, you wouldn’t want to move this power station much. Decide where you want it and keep it there for the duration of your trip.

The Bluetti EB240 Portable Power Station uses quality LG lithium cells, known for stability, monitored by a state-of-the-art battery management system that prevents over-charge, over-current, and short circuiting. Lithium batteries allow you to drain them up to a balance of 20% of its full capacity. This means that you can use up to 1920Wh of power.

Most DIY power generators built by the average camper use lead acid batteries. They are cheap, easily available and also easy to charge. But lead acid batteries only allow you to use up to 50% of its capacity. That means that if you have a 70ah battery (which converts to 840Wh), you can only use up to 420Wh safely without damaging the battery.

A 70ah battery has an average weight of 50.7lbs, compared to the EB240’s weight of 48.5lbs.

The EB240 portable power station has an Intelligent Cooling Controller that keep the unit cool when running power-hungry devices, especially when running on AC.

Who is the Bluetti EB240 2400Wh/1000W Portable Power Station best suited for?

The Bluetti EB240 is obviously not meant for hikers. Because of it’s size and weight, you will need to carry it in a vehicle or boat.

RV owners, 4×4 overlanders and campers, will find the EB240 a great buy because of the 2400Wh of stored power. By connecting it to solar panels, they can stay off grid for very long periods of time while enjoying the benefits of running a fridge/freezer, coffee maker, laptops, lights, water pumps, fans, and other devices that bring the comforts of home to the outdoors.

Some campers have taken camping to the next level by bringing along their air fryers, rice cookers and sous vide machines to handle their cooking and get more time to relax and enjoy other activities.

The Bluetti Power Station is also great for charging power tools, camera and sound equipment, drone batteries, as well as your handphones and other devices.

This is a must have for people who have to spend prolonged times working off grid for long periods of time.

Although most campers will find the power capacity excessive, not to mention the price, the Bluetti EB240 2400Wh/1000W Portable Power Station is great to have if you have the budget. Other than its use off grid, the unit can be used at home when there is a power outage. You can run your refrigerator, lights and fans for a long period. This would be especially useful when you have children at home.

EB240 FREQUENTLY FAQS

What kind of devices can Bluetti EB240 power?
A: Please note that the AC output ports can charge/power devices only operate at less than 1000-Watts, and the gross power should be under 1000 watts as well or EB240 will shut off automatically for circuit protection.

Please make sure your device is compatible with EB240 before purchase.

How to figure out the recharge times of my device?
A: Working time = 2400Wh* 85% / rated power of your device

For reference, assuming the device features rated power 800W (might be an Electric drill), working time will be 2400Wh*85% / 800w=2.5hrs (Estimated time) .

Please note: actual power consumption varies from different usages, please contact Email: bluettipower@bluetti.com for better purchase advice.

How to choose third-party solar panel?
A:
Solar panel spec. requirement:

Default working voltage ≧ 20V, gross open circuit voltage ≦ 73V(±2V), the max output current ≦10A, max input power ≦ 500W.

What is the battery Life-cycle?
A: It is vital to know that lithium-ion batteries will degrade over time if they are charged too frequently. Recharge time is set to 5 hours around via wall socket, ensuring that the EB240 is capable of lasting for at least 2500+ cycles.

Is it able to be charged via 12V vehicle accessory ports?
A: You could use a 300W(minimum) pure sine inverter to connect the vehicle accessory ports with EB240. The inverter is not included in the package.

If I replace the included MPPT module for a battery expansion, how much solar input can I use when the EB240 is unhooked from the expansion batteries and is in stand-alone mode?
A:
The EB240 could have a maximum of 500W from solar panels without MPPT module. You should set panels of 400W into the MC4 pole input, and another 100W worth of panels into the 7.9*0.9mm input. These measures would support 320-360W input power per hour in good sunlight conditions.

Conclusion

The Bluetti EB240 Portable Power Station’s 2400Wh of power allows you to use to be off grid for long periods of time while enjoying the comforts of modern-day devices. The unit is big and heavy and not meant for those without a form of transportation that can carry it. It’s great for all your off-grid trips as well as for emergency situations in the home.

While it is great to have around, the price makes it out of reach for most people without the budget. If you can afford it, it’s a great buy and will be sufficient for all your needs present and in the future. We have seen friends who purchase units with smaller power capacities, only to find that they needed to upgrade when they added more devices to their trips.

Although the unit has heaps of power, there are only 2 AC outlets. We would have expected at least 4 outlets for the capacity.

The power meter shows the balance by bars. This means that we do not know the actual balance of power remaining. A reading by percentage would have been better.
